What is reverse engineering?
Nowadays, reverese engineering using 3D images obtained from X-ray CT and 3D scanners is becommig popular. It is broadly defineded as exmination of production procedure, blueprint, and source code by overhauling the machines, monitoring their performances, or analyzing the software.
Especially, in the field of interest here, it means associating the measured digital data with CAD, CAE, and Rapid Prototyping to help design, production, and examination of the samples..
Available Data Format
PointMaster can load STL files and other formats that record pointcloud or collection of triangles exported from 3D scanner and X-ray CT devices. It also is able to paste "surface" on the surface of polyon data or to approximate a part of the polygon to a simpler geometry to convert polygon into CAD, which can be exported as IGES file.
